How to choose the right paper for your art print
Matte or gloss, light or heavy — how paper stock changes the way a print looks on your wall.
Choosing the right paper is half the artwork. A heavyweight matte stock deepens blacks, softens colours and keeps large type crisp from across the room.
For bold graphic prints we recommend a 200gsm matte archival sheet: it absorbs ink evenly, resists fingerprints and sits beautifully behind glass. Glossier stocks suit photography-led pieces where contrast matters most.
Every Ironleaf Printing poster is printed on acid-free, age-resistant paper rated for 100 years indoors — so the piece you hang today looks the same decades from now.
